UTSA's Facility Security Office (FSO)
UTSA's appointed FSO Office is responsible for advising all cleared employees, including those outside the United States, of their individual responsibility for safeguarding classified information. In this regard, The FSO office shall provide security training as appropriate, according to National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual's (NISPOM) Chapter 3, to cleared employees by initial briefings, refresher briefings, and debriefings.
FSO responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervises and directs security measures necessary for implementing applicable requirements of the NISPOM and related Federal requirements for classified information.
Review of the entire Questionnaire for National Security Positions (SF 86) completed by the employee for adequacy and completeness; privacy of the individual is maintained.
Principal advisor to the Government Security Committee (GSC) and attends GSC meetings.
Submits Classified Visit requests and classified meeting requests to the applicable clearance agency.
Provides all cleared employees with security training and briefings commensurate with their involvement with classified information.
