Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation – Undergraduate (LSAMP)

YR1Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Majors.
Provides students underserved/underrepresented groups with opportunities to participate in on-going research projects at UTSA and gain skills for doctoral education.

Minority Access to Research Careers – Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research (MARC-U*STAR)

YR2Biomedically Oriented COS and BME, Behavioral Sci (Psych); Jr/Sr. Two year program.
A research training program that assists underrepresented undergraduates gain quality research experience and training to prepare them for doctoral education.

Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE)

YR3Biomedically-oriented COS and BME. Soph – Sr.
A research training and support program designed to increase the number of students from groups underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research who complete Ph.D. degree programs in these fields.

Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program (McNair)

YR4All majors, sophomores through senior.
The Scholars Program exposes students who desire to pursue a Ph.D. to graduate work and research.

Teaching and Research in Environmental Ecology (TREE)/Educating Youth in Ecology (EYE)

YR5Environmental Science-Oriented Undergraduates – All levels.
A model to integrate mentoring between community entities to promote and enhance career development for underrepresented minorities in conservation and natural resources.

UTHSCSA South Texas Advanced Research Training, Undergraduate Program (START-UP)

puzzle brainNeuroscience-Oriented Jr/Sr
Pre-Ph.D. research training program for undergraduates. Hosted by the Health Science Center, but some research takes place at the UTSA Campus.

Work Study Research Training Program (WSRTP)

YR7A research training program that allows work-study-eligible undergraduates to be paid for performing laboratory research in a UTSA research laboratory and provides pre-Ph.D. training.

African American Literatures and Cultures Institute – UTSA (AALCI)

S1Junior-level undergraduates with at least 1 year remaining prior to graduation
Preparatory program that guides students in learning about what it takes to become a Professor of African American literary and cultural studies.

Honors Research

Research may be performed at UTSA within the context of earning Honors through the Honors College and through a number of the Colleges or Departments.

Honors College

Highest Honors. Students admitted to the Honors College can opt to earn Highest Honors, which requires that they perform research and submit a thesis.
