Meet a Roadrunner: UTSA’s Lee Mason is helping teens manage autism

July 31, 2013

In January 2013, Mason opened the Teacher Education: Autism Model (TEAM) at the UTSA Downtown Campus. The center offers low-cost Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services to children and teens with autism. It also offers a controlled training environment for UTSA graduate students in special education, educational psychology and related fields who want to earn their ABA certification.

UTSA’s Arpan Satsangi is developing cancer treatment

Meet Arpan Satsangi. This 26-year-old biomedical engineering Ph.D. student is developing a novel drug delivery system that will make chemotherapy treatment more tolerable for cancer patients. He will defend his research this Friday and start medical school at the UT Health Science Center on Monday.

UTSA doctoral student receives Jess Hay Chancellor’s Fellowship

Jeffrey Howard, a doctoral student in The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Public Policy, is a recipient of the prestigious Jess Hay Chancellor's Fellowship. He will use the accompanying $10,000 award to continue his research in public health disparities along social and economic lines.

UTSA, SwRI researchers to develop drug-loaded scaffold for bone grafting

Researchers at The University of Texas at San Antonio and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) jointly announce they are investing $200,000 in new research aimed at developing a synthetic drug-loaded scaffold to use in bone grafting procedures.

UTSA scholars to study health effects of electronic cigarettes

July 13, 2013

Scholars William Cooke and Donovan Fogt have received $30,000 in seed funding from UTSA to find out. The UTSA kinesiologists will team up with Assistant Professor Caroline Rickards at the University of North Texas Health Science Center to gather baseline data about the effects of e-cigarettes on the body's basic physiological health.
