Department of Defense:
DOD has organized key information into a portal called the Defense Innovation MarketPlace.
Description: The Defense Innovation Marketplace is a communications resource to provide industry with improved insight into the Research and Engineering investment priorities of the Department of Defense (DoD). The Marketplace contains DoD R&E strategic documents, solicitations, and News/Events to better inform Independent Research and Development (IR&D) planning. The IR&D Secure Portal houses project summaries that provide DoD with visibility into the IR&D efforts submitted.
NOTE: This is a valuable link to researchers interested in opportunities for topics, funding, and events. It is also a key resource as background information that can be used to support research proposals and developing value propositions on the relevance of research for the warfighter or a mission within DOD. This portal is continuously updated for new postings.

- Communities of Interest
The Communities of Interest (CoIs) were established as a mechanism to encourage multi-agency coordination and collaboration in cross-cutting technology focus areas with broad multiple Component investment. CoIs provide a forum for coordinating Science & Technology strategies across the Department, sharing new ideas, technical directions, and technology opportunities. The scope of the 17 CoIs is detailed in the Tier 1 Taxonomy below, and on the CoI pages.

Department of Homeland Security:
DHS is comprised of 22 component organizations. In many instances academia and research have the opportunity to engage directly with the components. Across DHS structure, academia can also get involved through various channels such as working groups, advisory boards/committees, and specific topic efforts. There is an Homeland Security academic advisory Council (HSSAC) activity directly supporting the Secretary of Homeland Security and another under the Science and Technology Advisory Committee (HSSTAC). A summary of DHS academic engagement links is listed below:
