The Contracts and Industry Agreements (CIA) office facilitates and supports UTSA’s research and sponsored program efforts by drafting, negotiating, and executing a wide variety of contracts and agreements, including the following:

The goal of the CIA team is to establish agreements that protect the interests of faculty members and students; protect UTSA’s institutional interests and policies; and ensure compliance with applicable laws. CIA provides contractual advice on matters related to Federal and State laws, University rules, regulations and policies pertaining to research and sponsored projects.
The CIA team is made up of highly experienced professionals providing contract transaction services; review, drafting, and negotiation support; sponsor and partner liaison services; contractual research and analysis. Our team works closely with the Research Service Centers to provide seamless and high quality research administration services for faculty and staff. CIA also coordinates with other university offices, including the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) and the Office of Commercialization and Innovation (OCI), to address contractual requirements and ensure the protection and intellectual property (IP).
