Physical & Engineering Safety
The Physical & Engineering Safety Program establishes formal written practices for protecting all UTSA personnel and visitors from adverse health and safety hazards associated with physical hazards in engineering laboratories. The Physical & Engineering Safety Program consists of a Physical & Engineering Safety Committee (PESC), Physical Safety Manual, and specific online training modules which should be used as a resource in developing a safety culture in research laboratories across campus.
UTSA is held to state and federal regulations that define safety in the physical domain. UTSA will adopt Best Business Practices for topics not covered by state or federal regulations. In addition, UTSA develops site-specific plans and procedures that support the diverse research portfolio at UTSA. The Physical & Engineering Safety Program is part of an overall collaboration between Laboratory Safety and faculty, staff, and students who strive to create a positive safety culture at UTSA.
