Office of Sponsored Projects
UT San Antonio is committed to the ethical stewardship of funding from external sources. The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) oversees externally funded projects in collaboration with College Research Administrators across the university.
UT San Antonio follows sponsor requirements and federal and state mandates supporting funding requests and manages external funding received. To ensure consistency and accuracy in meeting these requirements, proposal submissions and award acceptance are centralized activities conducted by a professional staff with broad knowledge of the regulations of federal and state agencies and records retention obligations.
Sponsored Projects Process

Proposal Preparation
OSP reviews and submits proposals packaged by the College Research Administrators.

Award Management
OSP submits Just In Time (JIT) inquiries from sponsors and coordinates acceptance of the award in collaboration with the College Research Administrators and the Office of Contracts and Industry Agreements (OCIA).

Account Management
OSP sets up the award in PeopleSoft according to its terms and conditions and authorizes spending authority. Sponsor notifications and inquiries that require institutional signature authority are processed and submitted. OSP negotiates with sponsors on award modifications and agreement amendments, and coordinates subawards and subcontracts on projects. Award close-out is coordinated with the Office of Grants and Contracts Financial Services (GCFS) in Financial Affairs.

Award Compliance and Monitoring
OSP coordinates the onboarding of new OSP and Research Administration staff, and coordinates audits, site visits and desk reviews of projects by sponsors. It oversees the development and updates of standard operating procedures and disseminates policy, procedure and practice information to stakeholders.
