Genomics Core

About Our Core

The UTSA Genomics Core is a fee-for-service core facility that prepares nucleic acid samples for nucleic acid Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) applications (genome, transcriptomes, epigenome, etc.). We provide a particular focus in single-cell genomics and currently growing into spatial transcriptomics.

Additionally, we maintain and train students and staff on instruments used for QC of nucleic acid samples and qPCR gene expression studies.

Location

The University of Texas at San Antonio
One UTSA Circle, San Antonio, TX 78249

Hours of Operation

Monday - Friday
8am - 5pm

Instrumentation

NanoString Digital Spatial Profiler

Whole tissue sections (FFPE or Fresh Frozen) can be imaged and stained for RNA or Protein expression. Investigate particular regions of a tissue or break the tissue down by particular morphology markers. Detect and quantify up to 20,000 genes or 150 proteins per slide which can be compared and navigated using a 4-channel fluorescent slide scanner.
