Responsible Conduct of Research
Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training is intended to sensitize those involved in research to a wide range of ethical and professional issues, foster integrity, and deter scholarly misconduct. This training program was developed to meet the requirements established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
All trainees, fellows, scholars, staff members, and other participants who receive support or funding from NIH, NSF and/or USDA are required to complete 8 hours of in-person training. The training must be fulfilled within the first year after an award has been made, and before the student or research staff member completes or departs the project. The training requirement must be renewed once every four years, and/or after a change in status (such as from undergraduate to graduate student, or doctoral student to post-doctoral fellow).
