FY 25 Faculty Travel Support Program (August 2024 – July 1, 2025)

Eligible: Active, tenured, tenure-track, and FTT faculty at UTSA are eligible for one (1) award per fiscal year.*

The Office of Research Faculty Travel Support Program aims to facilitate travel that enables research faculty to (a) meet with program officers at granting agencies in pursuit of specific research and professional development opportunities geared towards enhancing UTSA’s research portfolio, (b) present research findings at conferences and other scholarly meetings or (c) engage in other scholarly research-related travel with clearly articulated objectives and outcomes.

For FY25, additional application materials will be required based on the scope of submission.

In accordance with Executive Order GA-48 issued by Governor Abbott on November 19, travel funding requests to the following destinations will not be approved: China, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Russia, and Venezuela. FY 25 Research Conference Hosting Program (August 2024 – July 1, 2025)

Eligible: Active, tenured, tenure-track, and FTT faculty at UTSA are eligible for one (1) award per fiscal year. *

The Research Conference Hosting Program, sponsored by the Office of Research at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), is a non-competitive program supporting strategic initiatives. The program’s main objective is to support research development conferences that elevate UTSA’s prominence and reputation in the respective academic disciplines.

Applications that include a dedicated mutual investment from the applicant’s department and/or the college will be given preference.

Grant for Research Advancement and Transformation (GREAT)

The Grants for Research Advancement and Transformation (GREAT) program, sponsored by the Office of Research, is offering seed grants to support new areas of research for faculty at UTSA. The primary goal of these awards is to assemble preliminary data that can be used to seek extramural funding and advance UTSA’s institutional research excellence goals.

Eligible: Full-time, tenured, and tenure-track faculty at UTSA.

Internal Research Awards (INTRA)

The Internal Research Awards (INTRA) program is part of the UTSA Research coordinated efforts to promote high-quality research and scholarship. This program offers funds for faculty to gain experience in identifying and submitting proposals for extramural funding, gather preliminary data to support applications for extramural funding and enhance scholarly and creative activities.

Eligible: Full-time, tenured, and tenure-track faculty at UTSA in COB, COEHD, COLFA, HCAP, and School of Architecture and Planning.

Transdisciplinary Teams Program (T2)

The Transdisciplinary Teams (T2) program, sponsored by the Office of Research at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), is offering seed grants to support UTSA faculty members' engagement in scholarly research activities that foster transdisciplinary collaborations.

Eligible: Full-time, tenured, and tenure-track faculty at UTSA.

Connecting Researchers through Partnerships (Connect)

The Connecting through Research Partnerships (Connect) program sponsored by the Office of Research at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), is a grant opportunity offered to enhance greater scientific collaboration between the two institutions and to increase both UTSA’s and SwRI’s research-funding base with cross-campus collaborative programs.

The program encourages interaction between investigators in support of the acquisitions of established extramural, peer-reviewed research funding. This agreement provides unprecedented opportunities for researchers to work together in addressing issues of mutual interest and need. For this cycle, UTSA and SwRI have agreed on the targeted areas of Human Performance and Urban Challenges. The proposal must have a direct application to solving industrial, governmental, or societal problems.

Eligible: Full-time, tenure-track, and tenured faculty at UTSA. Proposals must include multiple (2 or more: at least one from each institution) interacting investigators with PI status from UTSA and SwRI.

• The combined contributions of the two organizations are $125,000, of which UTSA will dedicate $50,000.
