The Office for Research and Innovation administers many annual internal funding opportunities, also referred to as “seed grants.” More information regarding internal funding opportunities, including the most recent program guidance and previous awardees, can be found below. For questions about any program listed, please contact seedgrants@utsa.edu.

NOTE: The Internal Funding Opportunities (Seed Grants) listed below are limited to awarding faculty from UT San Antonio Academic Campus faculty only. Faculty must have a minimum 50% appointment in one of the following colleges to be eligible for funding through these programs unless otherwise noted: ACOB, KCEID, COLFA COEHD, HCAP, COS, UC


Open Funding Opportunities

FY26 Faculty Travel Support Program  

FY 26 Faculty Travel Support Program (July 2, 2025 – July 1, 2026)

Eligible: Active, tenured, tenure-track, and FTT faculty at UTSA are eligible for one (1) award per fiscal year.*

The Office of Research Faculty Travel Support Program aims to facilitate travel that enables research faculty to (a) meet with program officers at granting agencies in pursuit of specific research and professional development opportunities geared towards enhancing UTSA’s research portfolio, (b) present research findings at conferences and other scholarly meetings or (c) engage in other scholarly research-related travel with clearly articulated objectives and outcomes.

For FY26, additional application materials will be required based on the scope of submission.

In accordance with Executive Order GA-48 issued by Governor Abbott on November 19, travel funding requests to the following destinations will not be approved: China, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Russia, and Venezuela.
