Biomedical Research Promises Better Health
With ongoing biomedical research and exploration being conducted in neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, data analysis, advanced visualization, and more, faculty and students at UTSA are engaged in exciting explorations designed to improve health and medicine. Human immunology and infectious disease, regenerative and molecular medicine, and neuroscience are all part of Integrative Biomedicine at UTSA.
UTSA’s biomedical researchers operate in well-equipped labs, including a high-throughput screening core facility, a medicinal chemistry and synthesis core facility, and the Kleberg Microscopy Center, which houses one of only two JEOL JEM-ARM200F transmission electron microscopes in the world. These and other facilities are propelling the development of new therapies and disease treatments.
As part of the Southwest Research Consortium, UTSA has entered a partnership that includes the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine and San Antonio’s Texas Biomedical Research Institute.
